86-Year-Old Cancer Patient’s Body Found Buried in NYC Apartment

Body of Brooklyn Cancer Patient Discovered in Bed of Comforters

An 86-year-old woman suffering from stage 4 cancer and Alzheimer’s disease was found dead in her Brooklyn apartment, wrapped in multiple layers of clothing and comforters. The body was discovered on a Monday afternoon, with a scarf found around her neck, indicating possible strangulation. Authorities believe she had been deceased for at least a week, possibly three.

The woman’s daughter, aged 65, who lived with her, had previously changed the apartment locks earlier this year. When her sisters—aged 61 and 57—came by after noticing flies near the window, the daughter refused them entry. The police responded to a disturbance at the residence prior to discovering the body.

Sources report that the daughter, who reportedly has bipolar disorder and schizophrenia but was not medicated at the time, became aggressive during the police response. She reportedly bit an officer multiple times before being restrained and taken for a mental health evaluation. The daughter’s 67-year-old mother, who had been suffering from severe health issues, passed away quietly in her home, with no immediate signs of criminal activity.

The case remains under investigation, with the medical examiner performing an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. No foul play was initially suspected, but authorities continue to explore all aspects surrounding the woman’s sudden and prolonged demise.
