Trump Claims Obama Guilty of Treason Over 2016 Russia Investigation
President Trump Calls for Criminal Charges Against Obama Over Russia Interference
In a recent statement, former President Donald Trump has accused Barack Obama of ordering an intelligence assessment that claimed Russian interference aimed to help Trump win the 2016 election. Trump asserted that evidence points directly to Obama’s involvement, describing it as “treason” and a deliberate attempt to influence the election outcome.
Trump referenced a declassified document indicating that Obama ordered a report into Russia’s actions during the campaign, which concluded that Russia sought to interfere but did not successfully manipulate votes. This finding aligns with a bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report from 2020. Trump emphasized that he believes Obama was at the top of a conspiracy involving Hillary Clinton and others, aiming to undermine his presidency.
He suggested that more documents are forthcoming, allegedly revealing further actions taken to destabilize his administration. Trump criticized Hillary Clinton’s alleged role, citing a discredited dossier funded by Democratic interests and dismissed as fake by investigators.
In response, a spokesperson for Obama dismissed Trump’s claims as “outrageous” and “ridiculous,” stressing the importance of respecting the office of the presidency and dismissing the allegations as efforts to distract from other issues.
Throughout his first term, Trump faced various investigations into potential collusion with Russia, which were ultimately cleared by special counsel Robert Mueller. Despite this, Trump continues to push allegations against Obama, claiming that significant evidence remains undisclosed and that high-ranking figures, including Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, were involved in a broader effort to rig the election.
