13 Injured, 7 Hospitalized After Truck Crashes into Massachusetts Job Corps Center

Truck Crashes Into Massachusetts Job Corps Center, Injuring Thirteen

A truck rammed through a fence and collided with the side of a residential education facility in Massachusetts, injuring 13 people and leading to seven hospitalizations on Sunday morning. The vehicle, identified as a red flatbed truck, drove erratically before damaging a fence, scraping alongside the building, shattering several windows, and ultimately crashing into the lobby of the Shriver Job Corps Center in Ayer.

The impact also caused a gas line to dent, complicating rescue efforts as firefighters worked to control the leak. According to Fire Chief Timothy Kelly, most of the victims had minor injuries, and fortunately, few students were inside during the crash. Several injured individuals were treated on scene, while the driver was airlifted to a nearby hospital along with six others.

Most students and staff were absent at the time, which likely limited casualties. The victims’ connection to the center remains unclear, though some are believed to have been students enrolled in the federally funded program for youth in need, aged 16 to 24, often faced with hardships such as poverty or abuse.

Investigators from the Massachusetts State Police have ruled out intentionality, stating there is no evidence that the crash was deliberate or targeted. The incident is under active investigation. The fire department and police are reviewing details to determine the cause of the crash.
