Legendary Rocker Ozzy Osbourne Passes Away at 76
Iconic heavy metal musician Ozzy Osbourne has died at the age of 76, according to an official family statement. He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.
The family expressed their deep sadness: “It is with great sorrow that we confirm the passing of our beloved Ozzy Osbourne. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask for privacy during this difficult time.” His wife Sharon, along with children Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and grandson Louis, are among those mourning his loss.
Ozzy’s death follows weeks after his farewell concert with Black Sabbath in early July, marking the end of his touring career. He had recently performed in Birmingham, England, alongside his bandmates for what was billed as their final show, featuring legendary acts like Metallica and Guns N’ Roses.
Over the past years, Ozzy battled serious health issues. In 2020, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which he kept secret for years. He also endured neck injuries from a 2003 quad bike accident. Despite health setbacks, he managed a comeback in 2022, even performing during an NFL halftime show. However, by early 2023, Ozzy announced his retirement from touring, citing his declining health and inability to handle the rigors of travel.
Throughout his career, Ozzy left a lasting mark, not just through his solo music, but also as a founding member of Black Sabbath, a pioneer in heavy metal. Despite being fired from the band in 1979 due to drug issues, he reunited with Sabbath multiple times, earning induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and embarking on a farewell tour in 2016-2017.
Ozzy’s vibrant personality extended to reality TV with “The Osbournes,” which debuted in 2002 and captured the family’s humorous and tumultuous moments, shaping the genre of reality television. His relationships, including a 2017 vow renewal with Sharon after overcoming previous infidelity, remained driven by their profound love and collaboration over four decades.
He is survived by his wife Sharon and children from his first marriage, Jessica and Louis Osbourne, leaving behind a legendary legacy in music and pop culture.
