Malcolm-Jamal Warner Shares How He Wants to Be Remembered

Malcolm-Jamal Warner shared his thoughts on how he hoped to be remembered during his final interview before tragically drowning. He reflected on the legacy he had established through his early work on The Cosby Show, which his mother told him had given him immortality.

He expressed that, beyond that initial fame, he has led a full life that leaves another form of legacy—for being a good person. Warner reflected, “There’s part of me that I will be able to leave this earth knowing — and people knowing — that I was a good person.”

He credited his father for emphasizing the importance of character over success, saying, “What really makes me proud is that you are a good person.” Warner also emphasized that despite his Hollywood achievements, his true measure of legacy is maintaining integrity amid a dark world.
