Kelly Dodd Criticized for Mocking Denise Richards & Aaron Phypers’ Abuse Allegations
Celebrity Sparks Backlash for Mocking Domestic Abuse Allegations
A well-known reality TV personality faced intense criticism on social media after posting a video that appeared to mock serious accusations of abuse. The video featured the individual and her husband lip-syncing audio from a season of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” in which her estranged husband had threatened actress Denise Richards during a dispute.
The original scene showed the husband warning Richards, “Don’t tell me what to say. I’m going to crush your f–king hand. Stop it.” In the reposted video, the couple re-enacted this threatening exchange humorously, with the woman captioning it as a Halloween joke. Fans soon criticized her for insensitivity, with many deeming the clip in poor taste and inappropriate given the context of Richards’ recent allegations.
Richards, 54, had recently obtained a restraining order against her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, 52, citing threats to kill her and herself if she reported him to authorities. Court documents detailed physical assaults, including choking, slapping, and head-squeezing, that Richards claimed occurred during their relationship. She also alleged Phypers bruised her eye in 2022.
Phypers denied all abuse accusations, insisting he never harmed Richards physically or emotionally. In a statement, he claimed to be the victim, asserting Richards was the aggressor and that he had only acted to protect her and their daughter.
The ongoing feud has involved accusations from both sides, with Phypers claiming Richards is addicted to Vicodin and engaged in an ongoing affair, allegedly endangering their child. He further alleged her substance issues have been ongoing for over 20 years, with claims that she’s passed out from drug use.
Both parties remain embroiled in a contentious legal battle, each accusing the other of misconduct amid sensational claims and public scrutiny.
