Atlanta Rapper Ca$h Out Sentenced to Life for Rape and Sex Trafficking

The rapper known as Ca$h Out has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of serious crimes, including rape and sex trafficking. Born John Michael Hakeem Gibson, he was found guilty last week after a lengthy trial that confirmed his involvement in leading a prostitution operation aimed at exploiting women.

In a court hearing, Ca$h Out’s mother, Linda Smith, was also convicted and received a 30-year sentence. His close associate, Tyrone Taylor, was given the same life sentence as Ca$h Out for his role in the criminal enterprise. Prosecutors argued that he used his Pyrex Music Group to lure women into his abusive scheme, masquerading as a legitimate music business.

Ca$h Out gained fame in the early 2010s with his hit singles “Cashin’ Out” and “She Twerkin,” and even made a cameo appearance in Adam Sandler’s 2019 film Uncut Gems. Despite his entertainment success, authorities revealed that he leveraged his influence to facilitate a reign of terror over women, subjecting them to coercion and abuse.

Ca$h Out in court

The judge in the case condemned Ca$h Out for engaging in some of the “worst of human behavior.” Multiple victims testified to suffering from PTSD, depression, and anxiety as a result of his actions. The sentencing decision underscores the severity of his crimes and the devastating impact on those he exploited.

While Ca$h Out’s legal team requested a 30-year sentence, the court imposed a sentence that reflects the gravity of his offenses, resulting in life imprisonment. This case highlights the ongoing fight against trafficking and exploitation, reaffirming that such conduct will face harsh penalties.
