Malcolm-Jamal Warner Dies at 54

The actor best known for his role on The Cosby Show has tragically passed away at the age of 54. Warner died on Sunday after drowning during a family vacation in Costa Rica, according to the Costa Rican National Police.

Authorities reported that Warner was caught in a strong current near Cocles beach in Limon and was discovered late that afternoon. The official cause of death was listed as asphyxiation caused by drowning.

Warner’s representative has not yet commented publicly. Social media posts, including one from a woman claiming to be his cousin, expressed grief and issued safety warnings about water activities while traveling.

He is remembered for his portrayal of Theodore Huxtable on the long-running sitcom The Cosby Show, a role that earned him an Emmy nomination. Warner kept his personal life private, leaving behind a wife and daughter whose identities remain undisclosed.

He also starred in “Malcolm & Eddie” and “Reed Between the Lines.”

Beyond his sitcom role, Warner appeared in series such as Malcolm & Eddie, Reed Between the Lines, and recent TV shows including 9-1-1 and Alert: Missing Persons Unit. Last year, he launched a podcast titled Not All Hood, with his latest episode released just days before his death.
