Amanda Balionis Stunned by Rory’s Mr. Bean-Style Hair!
Rory McIlroy’s New Haircut and His Road to the Ryder Cup
Masters champion Rory McIlroy recently debuted a shorter hairstyle, prompting some playful comparisons and jokes from fans. He arrived at the Genesis Scottish Open with a buzzcut after a brief break, aiming to give his hair enough time to grow back to the ideal length for the upcoming Ryder Cup in September.
His new look drew lighthearted reactions, with some suggesting he resembled Mr. Bean when he revealed his strip-cut hair. McIlroy shared with CBS’ Amanda Balionis that his choice was partly to hide his grey hairs, joking that the shorter style might actually highlight them more. He assured everyone, however, that his hair would be back to perfect length in time for the Ryder Cup.
In the Scottish Open, McIlroy found himself tied for the lead as the final round approached. When asked about his haircut, he quipped that it might serve as a good luck charm, depending on how he performs.

McIlroy discusses his recent form lull
After fulfilling his childhood dream of winning The Masters in April, many expected McIlroy to contend strongly in the remaining majors. However, his form has dipped since then, with setbacks including a non-conforming driver at the PGA Championship and some tense moments at the US Open.
Despite these struggles, McIlroy appears more relaxed during this week’s tournament. He believes he’s regaining the confidence and performance level that saw him triumph at Augusta National. “I think I’m close to my peak form again,” he said, acknowledging a recent lull as a temporary phase.
Looking ahead, McIlroy is favored to win the Claret Jug at Royal Portrush, where he hasn’t played since missing the cut in 2019. His caddie, Harry Diamond, has observed positive signs of progress during recent practice rounds.
