Long Island Man Killed by MRI Despite Wearing Chain Previously, Wife Reveals
Widow Blames MRI Technician for Husband’s Tragic Death
The wife of a man who tragically died during an MRI procedure has voiced her accusations, pointing blame at the technician involved. Her husband, Keith McAllister, 61, was fatally injured when he was suddenly pulled into the MRI machine, which she says was due to a metal chain he was wearing.
Adrienne Jones-McAllister tearfully recounted the moment her husband’s body went limp in her arms. She described the image as haunting: “His body went limp, and his pulse still echoed in my mind.”
According to her account, her husband was wearing a heavy, 20-pound chain intended for weightlifting during the MRI. She noted that the technician was aware of her husband’s chain, which had been discussed prior to the appointment. She claims that despite attempts to free him, neither she nor the technician could Pull him out.
Apparently, the MRI technician was familiar with the chain, which was used during her husband’s weight training. Adrienne alleges that the technician had prior knowledge of her husband’s wearing of the chain and that there was a conversation about it beforehand. She believes negligence played a role in her husband’s death.
She accuses the technician of neglect, calling out that he should have been more vigilant. Her husband was in the MRI room for imaging of his knee, but the presence of the metal chain—a common weightlifting accessory—caused a catastrophic reaction when the magnetic field pulled him inward.
Her husband, who was active in strength training, wore the chain regularly. Tragically, the force exerted by the MRI’s magnetic field resulted in multiple heart attacks, ultimately causing his death.
Medical experts note that the powerful magnetic field of an MRI can safely scan without metal objects, but any metal, especially heavy or ferrous items, can be pulled with immense force or heat up dangerously, leading to severe injuries or death.
