ICE Deports Man Convicted of Incest, Arrests Child-R:a:p:e Suspect

Deportation of Convicted Child Sex Offenders

Immigration authorities have deported a man convicted of heinous crimes involving his young niece, and took into custody another migrant charged with sexually assaulting a minor. The agencies described these actions as part of their efforts to remove dangerous offenders from the country.

Pedro Trejo Reyes, a 67-year-old Mexican national, was deported after serving time for repeatedly assaulting his niece in Texas in 2009. The assault resulted in the girl becoming pregnant, which ended in a miscarriage. DNA testing confirmed that Trejo Reyes was the biological father with over 99% certainty. Despite having been deported earlier following a 2011 court order, Trejo Reyes had previously been incarcerated for 16 years for his crimes.

The justice department reported that Trejo Reyes had threatened his niece to keep her silent about the abuse. Homeland Security officials emphasized that he has no future in the U.S. and highlighted ongoing efforts to prioritize the removal of offenders, especially those involved in child exploitation.

In another incident, a teenager who crossed illegally from Honduras was accused of raping and impregnating a girl under 14. He misrepresented himself as a minor when apprehended at the border in 2022. Homeland Security authorities identified him as Edwin Jacobo Hernandez Mateo, who was subsequently expelled to Mexico but may have re-entered illegally. He was arrested in Texas in June and is now detained pending deportation.

Security officials noted an increase in deportations, including recent arrests of over 1,300 illegal immigrants, many with criminal backgrounds, including child sex offenders. The efforts reflect a broader push to remove individuals involved in serious crimes and enhance safety.
