Noah Cyrus Honors Pappy & Celebrates Country Music Debut on His Birthday

Artist Noah Cyrus Honors Her Late Grandfather in Emotional Tribute Ahead of New Album Release

Grammy-nominated singer Noah Cyrus recently released her second album, I Want My Loved Ones to Go with Me. To mark the occasion, she shared an emotional tribute on social media, reflecting on her grandfather, “Pappy,” whose birthday coincided with the album’s release.

In her heartfelt post, Noah expressed her gratitude and remembrance: “Happy heavenly birthday to my grandfather, Pappy.” She explained that the album’s title references a hymn in the song “Apple Tree,” penned by her great-grandfather, Eldon Lindsey Cyrus, and performed by her late grandfather, Ron Cyrus, who passed away from lung cancer in 2006.

“This album is dropping tonight, on his birthday—divine timing,” Noah wrote. “I believe my Pappy is celebrating his big debut in heaven, alongside loved ones who left too soon.” Accompanying her message were childhood photos with her grandfather, emphasizing the deep musical lineage she hails from: “Music flows through our veins, connecting us to our ancestors and our identity… HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPPY. This one’s for you.”

In “Apple Tree,” Ron is heard reminiscing, “All my thoughts turn back to childhood days… My family, my siblings, I never imagined how far we’d roam.”

Discussing the new album’s significance, Noah shared how these memories resonate with her: “When I hear that part of the song, I see my mom tucking me in, picture us around the fire with my dad. I wish for the day when loved ones can be reunited after death. The thought of never seeing them again terrifies me, even if death itself doesn’t.”
