Bryan Mbeumo Joins Manchester United US Pre-Season Tour after £71m Brentford Deal
Manchester United Signs Bryan Mbeumo for £71 Million
Manchester United is set to include Bryan Mbeumo in their upcoming US pre-season tour following the club’s agreement with Brentford on a £71 million transfer deal for the Cameroon forward.
The Red Devils had persistently tried to secure Mbeumo, making multiple bids before finally reaching an agreement. After initial offers of £55 million and £62.5 million were rejected, United increased their bid to £70 million on Thursday, which Brentford accepted. The final deal includes an additional £1 million in performance-based add-ons, payable in four installments.
Unfortunately, Mbeumo was unable to join the team for today’s friendly match against Leeds in Stockholm, as the deal was finalized too late for him to undergo a medical. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old is expected to be part of the squad traveling to Chicago next week to face West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton in the Premier League Summer Series.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, is now focusing on signing a new central striker. However, the club may need to sell players first to fund new transfers. The team will also face Leeds United in a friendly in Stockholm on Saturday before traveling to the United States.
Several new signings, including Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, are part of the 29-man squad named for the friendly match. Youth prospects such as Patrick Chinazaekpere, Tyler Fredricson, Reece Munro, and others are also included. However, first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana is not participating due to a hamstring injury sustained during early pre-season training.
Club officials expect Onana and Joshua Zirkzee, who is recovering from a minor issue, to join the US tour next week. Meanwhile, players like Marcus Rashford, Garnacho, Sancho, Antony, and Malacia, who have been training separately, are available for selection. The club is also open to offers for Rasmus Hojlund.
