Arsenal Eye Fulham’s Approach for Forgotten Player as They Near Noni Madueke Deal
Arsenal in Transfer Discussions for Reiss Nelson as They Near Signing Chelsea’s Noni Madueke
Arsenal has received an approach from Fulham to re-sign Reiss Nelson, one of their less prominent players, as the club prepares to finalize a deal for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke for £52 million. Madueke’s arrival is set to further reduce opportunities for Nelson at the Emirates Stadium.
Nelson, who spent the past season on loan at Fulham, was hindered by injury, with a hamstring issue in December ending his campaign early. Nonetheless, he has returned to training with Arsenal. Last season, he made 12 appearances for Fulham, scoring two goals. The club is keen on re-signing him, mostly through a loan agreement.
Despite having two years left on his contract, Nelson’s future appears to be outside Arsenal, especially with the club’s recent acquisition of players like Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Christian Norgaard. Nelson, a product of Arsenal’s youth system, has featured in 90 senior matches for the club, scoring eight goals, including a memorable late equalizer against Bournemouth in 2023. He’s also had loan spells at Feyenoord and Hoffenheim.
His development has been complicated by injuries and strong competition from teammates like Bukayo Saka. As Arsenal moves forward with their transfer plans, Nelson’s prospects of establishing himself as a regular are diminishing, making a loan transfer to Fulham the most probable scenario.
Fulham’s transfer activity remains quiet so far this summer, while Arsenal has been active, securing several new players to strengthen their squad.
