Gavin Adcock, a singer dedicated to authentic country music, publicly criticized Beyoncé’s recent foray into the genre. Despite winning a Grammy for her album Cowboy Carter, he argued it didn’t represent true country music.

Expressing his views during a performance, Adcock faced significant backlash from Beyoncé fans. Rather than retreat, he chose to stand firm, planning to release a new song titled “Sunset” to demonstrate what he considers genuine country sound.

Recently active on social media, Adcock shared a video revealing a dream that inspired his upcoming release. He explained, “I was thinking about all the people who don’t know what real country music sounds like, so I’m dropping a new one this Friday.”

Adcock Criticizes Beyoncé’s Country Credibility

The tension sparked when Adcock announced his album Own Worst Enemy ranked fourth on Apple’s Country Albums chart, trailing only behind Cowboy Carter. During a concert, he openly acknowledged the competition, saying, “There are only three artists ahead of me, and one is Beyoncé. Tell her we’re coming for her.”

He strongly dismissed Beyoncé’s country label, stating, “That’s not country music, and it never has been.”

Despite his critique, Adcock emphasized he doesn’t hold personal animosity towards Beyoncé. Reflecting on his childhood, he shared, “My mom used to blast Beyoncé in the car, and I remember her Super Bowl halftime show being pretty impressive. But I truly believe her album shouldn’t be classified as country because it doesn’t sound like it.”

He hopes his upcoming song will show fans what authentic country music sounds like, emphasizing his desire for the genre to remain true to its roots.
