England’s Hannah Hampton Surprised as BBC Presenter Asks About Tampon Up Her Nose
England’s Hannah Hampton Asked About Having ‘a Tampon Up Her Nose’ in Post-Match Interview
England Women goalkeeper Hannah Hampton was unexpectedly questioned about a nosebleed in a post-match interview. Hampton had saved two penalties to help England beat Sweden and reach the semi-finals of the European Championship.
During the match, Hampton suffered a nosebleed and humorously placed an object up her nose to stem the bleeding. Later, a BBC reporter asked her about it in a lighthearted manner: “I’ve got to ask, you had your big moment with what looked like a tampon up your nose? How is your nose?”
Hampton responded giggling, saying, “It’s fine. Me and nosebleeds never go well. I have a history with the doctor, infrequent visits and hospital trips.”

In the match, Sweden took an early 2-0 lead with goals from Kosovare Asllani and Stina Blackstenius. However, England mounted a comeback with late goals from Chloe Kelly and Michelle Agyemang, forcing a penalty shootout.
During the shootout, Sweden failed to convert five penalties, while England missed four. Hampton was crucial in the process, saving two Swedish penalties, including the final one, which secured England’s victory.

England now prepares to face Italy in the semi-finals. Hampton, who debuted internationally in 2022 and has 20 caps, stepped into the Euros under pressure following the retirement of Mary Earps. The team finished second in their group, behind France, with notable wins against the Netherlands and Wales, and a narrow defeat to France.
