Wrexham Eyes £3m Bid for Championship Star Before Serie A Deal

Wrexham Preparing a £3 Million Offer for Hull City Defender Alfie Jones Ahead of Championship Return

Wrexham is considering a bid of approximately £3 million for Hull City’s defender Alfie Jones as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of returning to the Championship. The 27-year-old, who can operate both in midfield and defense, has attracted interest from multiple clubs, including Middlesbrough.

Standing at 6ft 3in, Jones is known for his ability to intercept and read the game effectively. He began his career at Southampton and has made over 190 appearances for Hull City, scoring twice. Notably, he was named Hull’s Player of the Year in 2023, though he is currently in the final year of his contract.

Hull’s squad may also see other departures, with defender Sean McLoughlin potentially leaving for Blackburn Rovers. McLoughlin, 28, is currently in Turkey at Hull’s training camp, with negotiations ongoing.

Wrexham is also in talks to sign New Zealand international defender Liberato Cacace from Empoli in Italy for around £2.5 million, with the possibility of an additional £1.5 million in bonuses. Cacace, 24, has earned 33 caps for New Zealand and is seen as a valuable addition as the club prepares for a promising season.
