Arsenal Fans’ Reaction to Noni Madueke Signing Is ‘Really Horrible’
Arsenal Fan Reactions to Noni Madueke Signing: Criticism and Support
The response from some Arsenal supporters to the potential signing of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has been overwhelmingly negative, with football content creator Joel Beya describing it as “really horrible.” Beya, who co-hosts the VIBE with Five podcast alongside Rio Ferdinand, believes the criticism has gone too far, especially considering the country’s emphasis on mental health awareness.
Madueke, 23, is expected to undergo a medical with Arsenal as they prepare to pay around £52 million for him. Despite this, some fans have expressed their displeasure through online petitions and hashtags like #NoToMadueke.
Beya acknowledged that Madueke might not be their top choice, but he criticized fans for being “really horrible” and warned against damaging the player’s mental health. “Once he wears the shirt, as fans, we need to support him,” he added.
Last season, Madueke scored seven goals and provided three assists in 32 Premier League appearances. Some supporters questioned whether investing a significant portion of their transfer budget on a player with similar output to their current winger, Gabriel Martinelli, who scored eight goals and four assists, was a wise move.
Historically, Arsenal has signed several players from Chelsea in recent years, including Willian, Jorginho, Kai Havertz, and Raheem Sterling. Beya cautioned that strengthening a potential title rival by paying an inflated fee could be detrimental to their own championship ambitions.
He emphasized that Arsenal, being the league’s dominant team, should avoid bolstering Chelsea’s squad. “You don’t want to be funding your rivals,” he said, highlighting Chelsea’s promising squad, especially with players like Cole Palmer, whom Beya admires.
When asked which signings would boost Arsenal’s confidence for the upcoming season, Beya suggested that they need to focus on realistic targets, such as Rodrygo, indicating that Liverpool’s strategic transfer approach, exemplified by their signing of Alexander Isak, highlights the differences in squad building philosophy.
He also mentioned Viktor Gyokeres as a valuable addition and expressed confidence that signing Rodrygo could secure Arsenal’s success and even save the manager’s job.
