Katy Perry Battles Emotions Performing Breakup Song After Orlando Bloom Split
Katy Perry Performs Emotional Breakup Song in Concert
During a recent concert in Inglewood, California, Katy Perry managed to keep her composure while singing a heartfelt breakup ballad. Although she usually allows fans to select songs for her performances, this time, she hesitated when fans voted for “Not Like the Movies,” a song about her own past relationships.
She expressed surprise, asking, “You’re gonna make me sing this in this time in my life?” referencing her recent split from Orlando Bloom. Perry explained, “OK, we’ll do it! Because you voted for it. … I’m gonna try not to cry. Don’t worry, I won’t cry.” The song she performed dates back to her first divorce from Russell Brand.
Fans voted for her to sing “The One That Got Away” as well, which Perry admitted she’d try to hold her composure for, joking she’d sing it a week before her period. She shared that the song was about her ex-husband, Russell Brand, and referenced their brief marriage in 2011.
Earlier this month, Perry and Orlando Bloom announced their breakup after several years of an on-again, off-again relationship. The couple, who share a 4-year-old daughter named Daisy, had previously reunited in Italy for a family vacation, emphasizing their ongoing amicable co-parenting arrangement that focuses on raising their child with love and respect.
Despite their breakup, Perry and Bloom continue to be seen together in family settings, including recent vacations and social media posts, highlighting their commitment to co-parenting their daughter.
