Jude Bellingham to Miss Start of Season After Shoulder Surgery
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has undergone successful surgery on his shoulder and is expected to miss the beginning of the upcoming season. The England international has been battling a shoulder issue since dislocating it in a match against Rayo Vallecano in November 2023. Despite initially delaying surgery and playing with a heavily strapped shoulder, Bellingham expressed frustration last month about managing the injury with a sling.
The club confirmed that the operation was to correct recurrent dislocation of his left shoulder and described it as successful. Following the procedure, Bellingham will enter a period of rehabilitation before resuming training and starting his recovery process. While the exact duration of his absence has not been specified, Spanish media suggest it could extend between two to three months.

Madrid’s La Liga campaign starts on August 19 against Osasuna. Bellingham is also likely to miss some Champions League fixtures and England’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in September. During his time at Madrid, he scored 15 goals in 58 appearances last season, contributing to the team’s efforts after transferring from Borussia Dortmund. Despite his contributions, Madrid finished second in La Liga and were eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals by Arsenal.
