Mariska Hargitay Honors Mom Jayne Mansfield with Stunning Beaded Suit Tribute!
Mariska Hargitay paid tribute to her late mother, Jayne Mansfield, by wearing a beaded ensemble inspired by her iconic look during her appearance on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”
She wore a sleek black suit with silver embellishments reminiscent of Mansfield’s 1958 Cannes Film Festival gown, styled with black pumps and loose curls.
Colbert highlighted the beaded details, to which Hargitay responded that her mother had worn a similar dress at Cannes in 1958, styled with white gloves and her signature bouffant hairstyle. Mansfield’s ensemble featured a mid-length black beaded dress paired with a fur stole, earrings, and clear embellished mules.
“I love the little beads; they’re very charming,” Colbert remarked. Hargitay added it was a tribute, noting her mother wore a comparable dress to Cannes in 1958, styled with a classic bouffant and accessories.
Jayne Mansfield, renowned as a sex symbol in the 1950s and 60s, wore a beaded black dress with gloves and her signature style at that year’s festival, alongside her husband Mickey Hargitay.
Hargitay has been promoting her documentary “My Mom Jayne,” which premiered at Cannes in May, exploring her mother’s life and her own family secrets.
In an interview with Deadline, Hargitay shared that her biological father is actually Italian singer Nelson Sardelli, not Mickey Hargitay. Mansfield divorced Mickey in 1963, and her relationship with Sardelli, who was her true father, was kept secret for decades.
“He was my everything, my idol,” she said of Mickey. The film marquees her effort to bring her mother’s story to life, with “My Mom Jayne” debuting on HBO and HBO Max on June 27.
Hargitay also reflected on her childhood, mentioning her mother’s joyful photos at Cannes as emotional memories, emphasizing how meaningful it was to revisit her mother’s story. Mansfield tragically died in a car accident at age 34 in 1967, with Hargitay, then just three, in the same vehicle.
Hargitay’s revelations extend to family secrets, including her biological paternity, which she discussed openly, marking her directorial debut with a focus on her roots.
“My Mom Jayne” is scheduled to air on HBO and HBO Max on June 27.
