Rosie O’DonnellClapsBack at Trump Over Citizenship Threat
Rosie O’Donnell Responds to Threats Over Citizenship from President Trump
Rosie O’Donnell publicly criticized President Trump after he suggested he was considering revoking her US citizenship. In a nearly ten-minute TikTok video, she expressed her resilience, stating, “I’ve endured 20 years of abuse from him, so I expected certain reactions.” She reassured her followers, “I’m safe here in Ireland. I’m out of the reach of the tangerine dictator.”
Trump, 79, announced on Truth Social that he was “giving serious consideration” to stripping her citizenship, claiming she poses a “threat to humanity.” O’Donnell, who moved to Ireland earlier this year after Trump’s re-election, countered by emphasizing her constitutional rights. “You can’t take away someone’s citizenship—they have to renounce it themselves,” she said, referencing the 14th Amendment.
She shared that she has no intention of renouncing her US citizenship, revealing her hope to attain dual Irish-American status. “I will never renounce my American citizenship,” she assured. Despite her move abroad, she remains committed to her country, affirming her American identity.
O’Donnell, who was born in Commack, NY, has long-standing feud with Trump, often exchanging insults publicly. She called him a “snake-oil salesman” and “orange slug,” while Trump has referred to her as a “fat pig” and “disgusting.” She criticized his policies, including the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) roundups of illegal immigrants, which she described as “insanity,” and accused him of battling dementia, despite his doctor’s reports of “excellent” health.
She explained her decision to move abroad stemmed from feeling overwhelmed by the political climate, saying her heart “couldn’t take the pain” caused by Trump’s actions. Nevertheless, she remains confident that her citizenship is protected and committed to her identity as an American.
