Shocking! Knife-Wielding Maniac Inside NYC Courthouse Had Notebook of Crazy Writings—You Won’t Believe What He Was Planning!
A man armed with a knife attacked a group of court officers at a Manhattan courthouse, and prosecutors revealed he left behind handwritten notes expressing anger against the justice system.
Jonathan Wohl, 37, was carrying a notebook and paper scraps during the deliberate attack on Monday morning. He wrote phrases like “Give me liberty or give me death,” while criticizing the court and police, officials said at his arraignment on Tuesday.
“One of the pages showed ‘give me liberty or give me death’ prominently,” said Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Taylor Holland. “Other pages contained remarks about the judicial system and police.”
More than 50 court officers attended the hearing, and Wohl was charged with attempted murder and assault. He was remanded to Rikers Island without bail.
Prosecutors said Wohl used a curved knife, and that if it had been a straight blade, the injuries could have been deadly.
During the assault, one officer was stabbed twice in the face, another suffered puncture wounds to the face and neck, a third was slashed in the chest, and a sergeant fractured ribs, according to authorities.
Holland noted Wohl has a history of conflicts with court officers, who have known him to be problematic for the past two years.
The viral video shows Wohl calmly passing through security before suddenly attacking officers with a knife, despite having no scheduled court appearance that day.
“We will not accept such violence in Manhattan,” District Attorney Alvin Bragg said after the arraignment. “Our court officers deserve respect for their dedicated work.”
