Arsenal Achieves Breakthrough in Ethan Nwaneri Contract Talks

Arsenal Nears Agreement on Ethan Nwaneri’s Contract Extension Amid Transfer Speculation

Arsenal is reportedly close to finalizing a new, long-term contract with the club’s young talent, Ethan Nwaneri, addressing recent uncertainties about his future.

The 18-year-old midfielder had a notable breakout season, contributing nine goals in 37 appearances across all competitions. Despite interest from other clubs and speculation about his future, Arsenal is keen to retain him.

Nwaneri’s current contract expires next summer, fueling rumors of a potential departure, particularly amid Arsenal’s recent transfer activities, including the imminent signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea and strong interest in Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, both of whom could compete for a spot in the team.

However, sources indicate Nwaneri remains committed to the club, eager to earn a sustained place in Mikel Arteta’s squad. Negotiations are progressing well, with the player showing a clear desire to stay at his boyhood club.

During recent talks, Nwaneri did not specify any demands regarding minutes on the pitch. Arsenal is reportedly offering a five-year contract, or a four-year deal with an additional option, to secure his future. Club officials, including Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta, are optimistic that an agreement will be reached.

If signed, Nwaneri would join fellow young players Myles Lewis-Skelly and Gabriel, who have already committed long-term to the Gunners this summer.

Nwaneri, who joined Arsenal’s academy at age eight, made headlines as the youngest player in Premier League history at just 15 years old. Since debuting in 2022, he has accumulated 39 appearances and scored nine goals for the senior team.
