Cher Rocks ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ Catsuit at Dolce & Gabbana Event
Cher Celebrates Iconic Looks at Dolce & Gabbana Event in Rome
Over the weekend, Cher made a stunning appearance at the opening night of Dolce & Gabbana’s multi-day Alta Moda event in Rome, honoring her legendary style with a bold, recreated look from her past.
She wowed the crowd in a crystal-adorned catsuit, featuring a sheer mesh design and high thigh-high boots, echoing her iconic 1989 music video ensemble for “If I Could Turn Back Time.” The original outfit, created by designer Bob Mackie, was a curve-hugging sheer bodysuit with a black strip covering her modesty, which stirred controversy at the time. Despite its notoriety, the look remains one of Cher’s most memorable.
She styled the outfit with a black oversized leather jacket, a statement belt, and voluminous, curly hair. Her performance also included a nod to her 2001 hit “Song for the Lonely,” as she appeared on stage in a platinum wig, paired with a dark green jumpsuit and a sparkling corset, all from Dolce & Gabbana. An outfit and wig change during one performance—only Cher could effortlessly pull it off.
Bob Mackie, who designed the original piece, later expressed some regret, telling Yahoo Entertainment that while he created many sexy outfits for Cher, the sheer bodysuit from her music video was a bit too much—so much so that he asked her not to tell anyone he designed it. Despite its controversial history, Cher’s tribute highlighted her ongoing influence and her flair for marrying fashion with performance.
