Ashanti’s Mom Slams Nelly for Ignoring Baby KK: “You Can’t Just Sleep All Night!”
Ashanti’s Mother Criticizes Nelly for Lack of Support with Baby KK
The entertainment industry is buzzing after Tina Douglas, mother of singer Ashanti, publicly called out rapper Nelly for not taking an active role in caring for their newborn son, Karim Keniade Haynes. The controversy arose following a recent episode of their reality show, which revealed the behind-the-scenes challenges Ashanti has been dealing with privately.
“I Had No Idea What My Daughter Was Going Through”
In a strong and emotional statement, Tina expressed her disappointment after seeing Ashanti’s exhaustion on screen.
“I had no idea how hard my daughter was working until I saw the episode. She’s awake all night with the baby while Nelly sleeps peacefully. That’s not what being a father is about,” she said.
Tina explained that Ashanti has been quietly bearing the burden of nighttime care, which has affected her physically and emotionally. Although Ashanti kept her struggles private, the reality TV footage made it undeniable, prompting Tina’s strong stance.
“Being a Father Means Sharing Responsibilities”
Tina clarified her viewpoint:
“A true man wakes up when the baby cries. You shouldn’t leave everything to the mother. Raising a child, especially a newborn, requires teamwork. Sleeping through everything as if the child isn’t yours isn’t acceptable.”
After watching the footage, Tina addressed Nelly directly.
“I told him he needs to step up and be a real man. Help your woman. She’s been doing it all alone while you sleep. That’s not right.”
Remarkably, Nelly acknowledged his shortcomings and committed to being more involved during those late-night hours, according to Tina.
Will He Follow Through?
While it remains uncertain whether Nelly will keep his promise, Tina emphasized she will be watching closely.
“Ashanti deserves a partner who supports her and their child. I’m proud she finally spoke out.”
